From summer camp fun to our 5th birthday celebration and the smooth launch of our one-day programming, July has been full of change, energy, and joy. Every bit of it has been possible because of you! Your time, energy, and care make all the difference. Whether you showed up to help behind the scenes, brought a meal, or jumped in at the last minute, we see you, and we are so grateful.
As we look ahead, we’re getting ready for our Back to School event and the return to familiar routines. We’re so grateful to have you as part of the Zelie’s Home family. Your continued support is what keeps us going!

Therese’s Nest News At Therese, we currently have seven moms, three babies, four on the way, and three toddlers. Help Zelie’s Home with Weekly Meal Donations! We rely on weekly meal donations to nourish and comfort our residents. In Garfield Heights, meals are donated every Tuesday at 5 PM, and in Lakewood, donations occur on Wednesdays at 5 PM. Camp Zelie! This past week, we wrapped up our THIRD annual Camp Zelie for the children of our alumnae moms. This year we were lucky to have the Metro Parks volunteer to come host a program for one of the days. The kids got to partake in crafts, games, and learning about Arlo, the turtle. We enjoyed the community pool, and when the weather didn’t hold, our staff packed the kids in the car and brought them to the Science Center. It was two days full of fun, learning, and belly giggles!
Back to School Event Zelie’s Home provides school supplies for the current moms and alumnae moms children. This event will include putting out school supplies, and helping the moms gather everything on their lists. The supplies are first come first serve. Email Bailey, Volunteer Coordinator

Don’t know how to begin volunteering? Start here! Attending an orientation is an opportunity to learn more about who we are and how you can help! You can sign up below and send us your contact information by using the orange button below. Shortly after you sign up, the volunteer coordinator will reach out to with additional details. Tours of the home will be given upon your first visit.

It’s never to late to start volunteering! Serve Saturday is the perfect way to volunteer at Zelie’s Home without making a regular commitment. Moms, staff, and volunteers work together to deep clean each room of the home every second Saturday of the month for Therese’s Nest and the third Saturday for Celine’s Nest. We are looking for volunteers for this month! Refreshments are provided. Click the link below to sign up on our website!

House Coverage
House Coverage volunteers are critical to our nests! At Celine’s nest, we are especially in need of House Coverage volunteers! House coverage includes answering the phones, receiving donations, enforcing house rules, and hanging out with the moms and babies. This is a very important volunteer position, as it allows the MissionCorps to attend meetings, take moms to appointments, etc. House Coverage volunteers usually commit a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly 2-4 hour shift during the week or weekends. The process to become a House Coverage volunteer is the following: 1) Attend a volunteer orientation 2) Complete a background check 3) Sign a volunteer packet Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions!
Thank you for coming out to support our mission, no matter what the circumstance. If you are interested in babysitting for our children please email me! Along with our weekly babysitters, we are always in need of babysitters to fill requests for moms who need to work, run errands, or attend programming or appointments. As our wonderful interns transition out of their roles at Zelie’s Home, we’re reaching out to ask for your support. We are currently in need of volunteer coverage on Tuesdays at Celine from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm to assist with babysitting during our Seeking Safety and Financial Literacy.
Babysitting in Garfield: Tuesdays from 10am-1pm, 1pm-4pm, and 4pm-6pm babysitting during programming. Wednesdays from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm during counseling and from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm for one child Babysitting in Lakewood: Wednesdays from 10am-1pm, 1pm-4pm, and 4pm-6pm babysitting during programming.

Donations We are always looking to have consistent volunteers who can help us with laundering, sorting, and taking inventory of our donations. Volunteers are needed on Mondays and Thursdays at our Lakewood location and on Wednesdays and Fridays at our Garfield Heights location.
